Insurance Acceptance Versus Participation

What does participating mean to the Patient? It means Progressive Therapy has a contract with the insurance company. We will bill to the Insurance Company and the patient is responsible for all co pays, coinsurances, and deductibles and/or out of pocket expenses as applied by the Insurance Company. Anything over these amounts we will take an adjustment against.

Progressive Therapy currently participates with the following insurances:

               Medicare                                  Aetna (except VHN)

                 Southern Health                     Mamsi/Alliance PPO

                    Virginia Medicaid                                Tricare Standard (only)

                   Anthem                                    Beech Street Network

                  Sentara                                    First Health Network

Piedmont Community Health Plan and Piedmont Community Healthcare

What does not participating mean to the patient? It means Progressive Therapy does not have a contract with the Insurance Company to write off anything they do not cover. It is your responsibility to pay for any balances left over after the insurance company pays. We will not make any adjustments or write offs after we receive the payment from the Insurance.

We are not participating with the following insurance companies or networks.

            United Health Care            PHCS                           Cigna

Worker's Compensation Insurance-If treatment is to be covered by a Workers Compensation Carrier please provide us with the Insurance Company name, phone number and your claim number so we may verify benefits prior to beginning treatment. Most Workers Compensation Carriers require authorization to be obtained prior to the evaluation. If the Workers Compensation carrier denies coverage then we will release any balance accrued to the patient's responsibility. As a precaution we ask that you provide us with a copy of your personal health insurance card at the start of treatment in case we do get a denial from the Workers Compensation carrier. We could then attempt to bill to your Health Insurance. However, if your personal health insurance also denies the charges you will be responsible to make payment in full.

Auto insurance cases-We do not accept any automobile insurance. If you have been injured in an automobile accident we will bill your personal health insurance or set up a self-pay plan. You can file a claim directly to the liability carrier for reimbursement if you qualify. We will provide the liability carrier, for a fee billed to them, any information they may need to process the claim to be able to reimburse you.

Patient's With More Then One Insurance-Being enrolled in more then one insurance does not mean your therapy will be covered at 100%. Please be aware that we will bill to both insurances in a timely matter but you may still be responsible for a portion of your treatment.

Patients With No Insurance Coverage-If you have no personal health insurance and will not be covered by any other insurance please contact our Business office, (434) 392-4910 Ext 14, to set up a self-pay payment plan prior to your first visit.

While we may not participate with all companies, we will still bill to them once we verify that they will pay for therapy received at an out of network provider. If you have no Out of Network benefits, and you are enrolled with one of the insurances we are not participating with, your insurance will not cover your therapy. You would be responsible for the full balance of therapy. In many instances you can appeal to the insurance company for approval to be seen at our office.

It is important that you understand what is and is not covered by your insurance company. You have a contract with your insurance company directly; Progressive Therapy is not a part of that contract. We will call the insurance company to verify benefits but ultimately it is your responsibility to know your benefits.

Of course if you have questions or need clarification we would be glad to help you!
